On April 22, an officer with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call regarding a possible breaking and entering in progress at the Hankwood Drive storage units in Beckley.
Upon arrival, the officer found two men wearing camouflage and carrying backpacks, according to the criminal complaint.
One of the men, John Homer Lilly, 43, willingly allowed the officer to search his backpack where the officer found hand tools, the complaint alleges.
Additionally, the officer found a pipe with burnt methamphetamine, as well as a funnel with drug residue, inside Lilly’s pockets.
Inside Lilly’s wallet, the officer found two small bags with a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Both bags weighed approximately 1.3 grams, the complaint states.
Lilly has been charged with a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. He is at Southern Regional Jail on a $1,500 cash/surety bond.
