A woman has been arrested in Hinton on multiple charges including the theft of vehicle keys.
On Monday, April 10, an officer with the Hinton Police Department responded to a call on Elk Knob Road in reference to trespassing, the criminal complaint filed in Summers County Magistrate Court states.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim who stated that she heard someone trying to open the doors to her home and that she had walked outside and confronted a woman who was opening a door on the victim’s vehicle.
The woman, later identified as Cora Rae Brown, 32, disappeared behind the house after being confronted and the victim called the police, the complaint states.
The officer was able to locate Brown still on the property.
During a pat-down, the officer found three sets of vehicle keys that were identified as belonging to a relative of the victim. The cost of the three keys is estimated to be $390.
The victim stated that these keys had been left in the ignitions of the unlocked vehicles, according to the complaint.
Brown has been charged with one count of trespassing, three counts of entering without breaking, three counts of petit larceny and one count of tampering with a motor vehicle.
Brown is at Southern Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
