A Pocahontas County man was arrested on the morning of Friday, March 26, after an alleged break-in that occurred some two weeks prior.

Denver Franklin Bennett, 28, of Marlinton, has been charged with one count of entry of a building other than a dwelling.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, deputies from the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to investigate reports of an alleged breaking and entering which was in progress in the Shamrock Circle area of Snowshoe.

According to a statement from the complainant, a red Dodge pickup truck was parked near a garage on the property.

The complainant reported that the “garage bay door was three-to-four inches higher than the typical locked position”.

Once the complainant confirmed that no one was in the garage, he made his way around the back of the building, where he located the suspect (later identified as Denver Franklin Bennett).

The complainant reportedly asked Bennett “what the (expletive) he was doing”, to which Bennet replied, “looking for something”, and “none of your business”.

According to the criminal complaint, the complainant was able to capture photographs of both Bennett, and the red Dodge truck before Bennett fled the scene.

Denver Franklin Bennett is currently being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a bond of $5,000 property or surety.
